To draw the Concentration the Buddhists Word Wide in Construction of a "Sangawasaya" which lend to Category of 'Ata -Kusal'

Neluwakanda is a ancient village situated in Matale District having 350 families. It is a very picturesque village surrounded by a chain of mountains. The living of the villagers are very difficult as it is very situated in a very remote area.

The villagers are 100% Buddhists. They did not have a suitable place to attend to their religious activites until 1952.With the initiative of few of villagers,a temple was built and named as 'Sri-Niketharamaya' on a land given as a donation. After that a 'Daham Pasala' was established and a new 'Darma Salawa' was constructed with the help of the villagers.

There was a 'Sangawasaya' which was built at about 1953 consisting two room,Dana Salawa and kitchen.During 'Katina Pinkam' and other meritorious activities,it is very difficult to accommodate the priests who come form other temples to take part in these activities.

A lot of repairs and improvements have been done to these buildings during the past decade with the initiative of the Chief Incumbent of the temple.

The construction of a new "Sangawasaya" an upstairs building is a long felt need as it is decided to establish Buddhist Educational Institute for Buddhist Priests. That will be a very great meritorious task which we can do to preserve the 'Buddha Sasana' in Sri Lanka. But it is very difficult to fulfit this obective only with the help of the villagers as it will cost Rs.3 000 000/=.There fore we expect meritorious contributions of both locals and foreigners.

Thank you.

Yours truly,

Chief Incumbent of the Temple and 'Dayaka Sabawa'
